Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. In 2001, she established The Corcoran Group in New York City. The company was sold to the company to NRT for $66 millions. Shortly thereafter she resigned from the company. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals since February, 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented worker throughout Corcoran's early years. Sometimes, the family relied on the delivery of food that was free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran states that her father was a drunken man who treated her mother with disrespectful and condescension. Corcoran was a troubled pupil throughout her schooling. She later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
