Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October, 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president and she also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in American history. She is a senator and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Her professional career started in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. In 2010 she was elected Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sánchez during the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. As a senator she advocated healthcare reform, federal descholaring of cannabis, a path for immigrants who are not legal citizens as well as the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. The attention of the nation was drawn by her outspoken examination of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
